More Changes In West Alabama TV Programming

It's been a non-stop train of new developments in local television programming over the last month.

We've documented many of the changes, and it can be hard to keep up with every single move. Several local viewers are concerned about losing access to their favorite programs as well as live sports. Football season is just around the corner, and CBS has both college and pro football packages in its lineup.

It all started with the news that Channel 42 would no longer be the CBS affiliate for Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Now called "Alabama's 42", the channel is more difficult to locate on cable or streaming systems. You can find the rundown here to locate the new Channel 42.

Even though Alabama's 42 no longer carries CBS programming, it is adding more local news and weather coverage. The lineup will include a morning news block from 7-9 am, a one-hour noon newscast, an afternoon news block at 4 and 5 pm, and a newscast at 9 pm. They will also feature weekend news blocks on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The CBS programming has shifted to WVTM-TV, which also carries NBC programming. CBS programming will be on their digital subchannel 13.4. What that means for cable and streaming outlets remains to be seen.
