As I'm scrolling Facebook on a Sunday afternoon, a picture of Alabama Football Quarterback Jalen Milroe on the beach launching what looked like a fish in his hand.

I'm on the phone describing to my best friend back in Florida what I'm seeing and he laughs and says, "That's the most Alabama thing I've ever heard of." It wasn't just the fact that Milroe was tossing a fish, it was that he was at an annual event called the Mullet Toss.

This was both me and my best friend's first time hearing about this event.

According to the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package Facebook page, the Mullet Toss is an annual event where participants throw a dead mullet across the state line of Florida and Alabama to see who gets the best distance. Proceeds from the tossed mullet goes to local youth charities in both Alabama and Florida.

The University of Alabama Athletics made a special stop to the 40th Mullet Toss to participate for a little bit and it seemed like a great time.

According to a post by Flora-Bama Lounge and Package, Coach Deboer, Coach Oats, Jalen Milroe, Malachi Moore, Ryan Anderson, and Jake Coke stopped by to enjoy the festivities..

It looks like that won't be the last place The University of Alabama Athletics will be stopping by. According to Roll Tide, the 2024 "Tide on Tour," presented by Yea Alabama, that features Alabama Football Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama Men's Basketball Head Coach Nate Oats, and Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne and current UA student-athletes will be stopping by multiple cities this spring.
