Police in Tuscaloosa are looking for people responsible for attacking a pair of tow truckers who were allegedly assaulted while working on the Strip this A-Day weekend.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said the festivities surrounding Alabama's spring practice game drew huge crowds to the Strip. TPD briefly declared the area overcrowded and cleared it out of pedestrians Saturday night.

Following up Monday morning, Taylor said there was not much serious crime to report in the A-Day aftermath but said TPD did recover a few firearms this weekend and that they are investigating the assault of two tow truckers who were allegedly attacked Saturday night.

Taylor said two tow truckers were hitching up a car parked on Grace Street on the Strip when an individual believed to own the vehicle returned to the scene with others and confronted then attacked them.

She said both truck drivers were struck on the head and both were hospitalized in the wake of the attack.

Taylor said no arrests have been made yet in connection to the case, but may soon follow.
