Yes, more active weather is on the way. We are monitoring the potential for storms to impact Alabama as our area is faced with multiple days of strong to severe thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that “Central Alabama remains stuck in an active pattern featuring extreme heat and severe weather chances each day.”

NWS: “Extreme Heat Still Isn't Budging” in Portions of Alabama

Monday Risk Areas

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the Storm Prediction Center “has defined an "enhanced risk" (level 3/5) of severe thunderstorms for much of Northeast Alabama, for Birmingham and points north and east. A "slight risk" (level 2/5) extends down to Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Eufaula, and a "marginal risk" (level 1/5) covers much of the rest of South Alabama.”

Monday Timing

Currently, the pace of the storm system should impact portions of Alabama between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Possible Threats

The main concern is the possibility of damaging straight-line winds of 60 mph to 70 mph. Also, there is a chance for quarter-size hail.
