Go ahead and get your tissues ready. This has to be one of the sweetest expressions of love I’ve heard about in a long time.

Andalusia, Alabama Florist Alan Cotton has a message for us all. He is encouraging everyone to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. That’s a pretty common message nowadays. However, Cotton’s request comes with a heartbreaking story.

His wife, Angela South Cotton, lost her battle against COVID-19 several weeks ago. According to WSFA, Alan Cotton said that she “would have gladly taken the vaccine but was advised not to due to her history of allergies to certain medications.”

To honor her memory and history of their dedication to the flower business, the Alan Cotton Florist is offering a single white rose to anyone who would get the vaccine. WSFA reports that “Alan Cotton has done two vaccination clinics and so far has given away more than 170 white roses.” Cotton’s see this has 170 more people have been vaccinated

I think that is a beautiful way to honor her life. His wife of over more than 40 years was only 64 years old when she passed away. That is way too young if you ask me.

COVID-19 cases are back on the rise due to the Delta variant. I know people have very defined decisions about receiving the vaccine. I’m on the side of taking the vaccine.

Early on, when appointments were scarce, I drove an hour to the Sumter County Health Department to receive both my vaccinations. It was well worth the drive, and the staff there was awesome.

Before taking the vaccine, I weighed all the options. Also, I discussed at length the pros and cons with my primary and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) doctor. My decision meant I had to come off my RA medicines which led to a painful few weeks.

There are few reasons why I opted for the vaccine. The main reason is that I wanted to protect myself and be mindful of the people I encounter daily.
