The LSU freshman forward Trendon Watford declared for the NBA Draft today. Watford was a five-star prospect out of Mountain Brook High School in the greater Birmingham area of Alabama. Watford announced his decision on his social media. In ESPN's mock draft a month ago Watford was picked 44th overall to the Chicago Bulls.

Watford chose the LSU Tigers over the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Memphis Tigers, he averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in his freshman year in Baton Rouge. He started in 30 out of 31 games for the Tigers in 2019-20 and was named to the SEC's All-Freshman team.

As a high schooler, the 6-foot-8 forward was a Mcdonald's All-American and named to the Jordan Brand Classic his senior year. He won Alabama's Mr. Basketball award in two consecutive seasons (2018, 2019). He helped the Mountain Brook Spartans win three consecutive 7A state championships.

Watford is the younger brother of Christian Watford who played high school basketball at Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama. The older Watford played college basketball at Indiana. The older Watford played professionally in Isreal for a season and is now playing in the NBA's G-League.
