University of Alabama System Plans to Have Fall Semester On Campuses, Chancellor Says

The University of Alabama System is planning to host classes this fall on all three of its campuses, Chancellor Finis E. St. John IV told AL.com Wednesday.

The system's three university campuses in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Huntsville all canceled in-person classes in March and finished their spring semesters remotely.

In his interview with AL.com, St. John said the system's coronavirus response task force is considering how to safely bring students back to campus and resume a sense of normalcy after this period of such uncertainty. He said the well-being of the student populations will be the group's chief consideration as they draw blueprints for the fall semester.

Despite the challenges, St. John said he "fully expects" all three campuses to return to in-person instruction when classes resume in August.

There's no official word yet from the NCAA, the SEC or the University of the fate of the football season, but a plan to return to on-campus instruction certainly bodes well for fans waiting with bated breath to see the Tide roll again.
