As Alabamians start their day, they have been greeted by some frigid temperatures. At the Townsquare Media Weather Center, off Skyland Blvd. in Tuscaloosa, it was 15 °F at 6 a.m.

The Cold Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham ends this morning, Tuesday, January 27, at 9 a.m.

Looking ahead, James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said at this time, there are “no signs of any big snow or ice issues for Alabama for the next 7-10 days.”

The rest of the week brings a modest warm-up, depending on your definition of “warm.” Most West Alabama communities will still struggle to reach 50 degrees this week, and another temperature drop is expected for this weekend.

“The weekend will be dry, but very cold. Lows Saturday and Sunday morning will be in the 10–18-degree range for most of the state; a few single-digit lows are possible early Sunday morning,” said Spann.

So, don’t put away those heavy coats just yet.
