Bitter Cold, Chance of Snow Flurries Possible for Alabama This Weekend
The rest of the week will bring a modest warm-up. “Warm” is subjective because it will still be “cold” to some Alabamians. However, temperatures will be noticeably different from what we experienced over the weekend and earlier this week. West Alabama stays in the mid- to high-40-degree range today.
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is now focused on two weather situations.
Area #1
Potentially record-breaking cold for the Deep South and Southeast this weekend.
The Weather Channel said, “This next round of cold air will have the potential to break records as far south as the Florida Keys, bringing not only the coldest air of the season to the Sunshine State, but possibly the coldest air in more than 15 years in parts of South Florida.”
To give some perspective on Alabama’s possible “feels like” temperatures for Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. from Time and Date Weather. It shows single digits across West Alabama on Saturday and most counties on Sunday.
It’s important to remember that the weekend is still a few days away, and this early outlook will likely be updated as we get closer.

Possibility of Snow
“As a surface low moves northeast just off the Atlantic coast, snow showers will be possible over the northern 2/3 of Alabama Saturday on the back side of the circulation with temperatures holding in the 20s through the day,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
Spann also added, “While no widespread accumulation is expected in Alabama, where heavier snow showers are expected, a few spots could see 1/4" to 1/2", especially in the northeast part of the state.”
