Updated Timeline For Potential Severe Weather
Updated Timeline For Potential Severe Weather
We have received an updated timeline from the National Weather Service for Potential Severe Weather tonight. The timeline for most of our listening area starts around 6 pm and lasts until about 11 pm. Then some areas will be affected between 9 pm until 2 am. We are currently are under a “slight risk” category from the National Weather Service, which gives us the possibility of damaging winds up to 60 mph and a brief tornado. The issue that is concerning to me is that we have several days of rain which means the ground is very saturated. In the possibility of winds, this could mean trees are very vulnerable in these conditions.
Also, from the National Weather Service, there is also "Flash Flood Watch from 4 pm today until Thursday, February 13th, at 6 am." This affects portions of "central Alabama, east central Alabama, northeast Alabama, northwest Alabama, and west-central Alabama, including the following areas, in central Alabama, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, Jefferson, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, and Walker. In east central Alabama, Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, and Randolph. In northeast Alabama, Cherokee and Etowah. In northwest Alabama, Marion and Winston. In west-central Alabama, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa."
